Student job: Informant of the asylum procedure to applicants for international protection in Somali

What

The Startpunt Team is the outreach team of Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen. Our team is present on the field every day to facilitate the access to correct information about the asylum procedure to applicants for international protection. We contribute to advocacy work for the protection of the rights of asylum seeker through a daily monitoring of the situation of asylum seekers during our information activities. Profile

• Somali native speaker (or with a bilingual level). The reading and writing skills in the language are not relevant as long as the person speaks fluently in Somali.
• Good understanding of English (as it is the language commonly spoken between the Startpunt team).
• Communication skills.
• Enthusiastic learner with a compromise with Human Rights.
• Previous professional or volunteer experience with direct contact with vulnerable profiles will count as a plus but is not essential.
• The applications of persons with a refugee or migration background will be prioritized.

Availability

We are looking for a person that could start immediately.
The person can choose between two options:
First Option:

• Work 3 weekdays (Monday + 2 weekdays of preference)  between 8am and 11am in the Arrival Center for Applicants of International Protection. Location: Rue de Passchendaele 2, 1000, Brussels
• Work on Wednesday from 1pm to 4pm on the Red Cross center located in Avenue du Port, 99, 1000 Brussels.

Second Option:

• Work 4 weekdays (Monday + 3 weekdays of preference) between 8 and 11 in the Arrival Center for Applicants of International Protection. Location: Rue de Passchendaele 2, 1000, Brussels.
